| What is radon? Radon is a naturally
occurring invisible radioactive gas. You can't see it. You can't smell
it. And when it is outdoors it is virtually harmless. It becomes a BIG
problem when it enters a home and becomes trapped there. Radon and the
radioactive decay products are the second leading cause of lung cancer
in this country.
LEARN ABOUT RADON DON'T IGNORE IT Radon can be found almost anywhere. There is only one way to know if a home has high levels of radon, and that is to conduct a radon test in that home. What the house next door tested at may or may not be an indicator of that area. Each house is different. The EPA recommends: If you are buying or selling a home, have it tested for radon. Fix the home if the radon levels are above 4 picocuries per liter or higher. Again, testing is the only way to find out the home's radon level. EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for radon. If high levels are found, there are ways to fix a radon problem. Even very high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels. We conduct radon testing using an electronic instrument called an active continuous radon monitor. They work by continuously measuring and recording the amount of radon or its decay products in the air of the home every hour. We DO NOT use charcoal canisters for residential radon testing because there is no way to tell if these devices have produced accurate results. SIMPLY, WE DON'T USE THEM!!!!! Please be aware that the State of Florida requires licenses for
everyone involved with radon testing. We will provide copies of our
certificates when requested. We take great pride in the manner in which
we approach radon testing. We do it one way -
